Bidspirit auction | Sterling Silver and Antique Blue

Sterling Silver and Antique Blue and White Porcelain Shard Pendant - This handcrafted sterling silver pendant features a bezel-set fragment of antique blue and white transferware porcelain. The ceramic shard is decorated with a cobalt blue transfer-printed design on a white ground, depicting a stylized tree with circular geometric floral motifs. The fragment is enclosed within a thick, rounded bezel frame that follows the irregular shape of the porcelain piece. The pendant is finished with a simple circular jump ring and a tapered, fixed bale. The reverse of the pendant reveals the plain, undecorated back of the porcelain shard. No hallmarks, maker marks, or metal fineness stamps are visible on the bale, jump ring, or bezel; however, the metal exhibits the characteristic tarnish and oxidation associated with sterling silver. Length: approximately 1 1/8 inches (from top of bale to bottom edge) Width: approximately 5/8 of an inch (at widest point). The antique ceramic shard displays overall fine crazing to the glaze on both the front (photo 1) and reverse (photo 2), which is characteristic of aged porcelain. The sterling silver mounting shows heavy tarnish and oxidation, particularly visible on the bale (photo 5) and the outer edges of the bezel (photo 4). Minor surface scratches and pitting consistent with age and the use of reclaimed materials are present on the metal surfaces. No chips or structural cracks are visible on the ceramic edges.
