Antique Large Lapis Lazuli Cocktail Ring - This antique cocktail ring is set with a prominent oval, high-dome cabochon stone of lapis lazuli. The stone exhibits a deep cobalt blue color with characteristic natural inclusions, including flecks of golden-colored pyrite and white/gray calcite throughout. The gemstone is secured in a handmade collet setting featuring a decorative rim with a repeating stamped pattern of X and circle motifs. The metal appears to be a white base metal or silver alloy that was originally finished with a gold-tone wash, much of which has worn away to reveal the underlying metal. The ring's shank features a split-shoulder design that tapers into a single solid band. No hallmarks, purity stamps, or maker's marks are visible on the interior or exterior of the piece. Face Length: 1 inch Ring Size: US 6.75. The ring shows signs of age and wear consistent with its antique status. There is significant loss to the gold-tone finish on the band, shoulders, and bezel (photos 3, 4, and 5). The metal surfaces display tarnish and oxidation, particularly within the recessed areas of the decorative stamping (photo 6). The lapis lazuli cabochon shows surface abrasions, minor scratches, and dull spots from use (photo 2).
