Bates and Bacon Victorian Gold Filled Etched Hinged Bangle Bracelet - A Victorian style hinged bangle bracelet composed of gold-filled metal. The exterior surface features an intricate chased and engraved design of blooming flowers, textured leaves, and scrolling foliate vines. This decorative pattern is set against a stippled, matte-finished background, bordered by smooth, polished edges. The interior of the band is smooth. The bracelet is constructed with a box tab insert clasp featuring a three-lobed push-button release and a secure hinge. The tongue of the clasp bears a stamped mark reading B&B. Interior diameter at widest point: 2 3/8 inches Band width: 1/2 inch. This antique item shows signs of age and regular use. There is tarnish and visible wear to the gold-filled surface, particularly along the interior of the band and the edges of the clasp where the base metal is exposed (photos 5 and 6). The hinge and push-button clasp mechanism are functional.
