Bidspirit auction | Sterling Silver Nautilus Shell Lariat

Sterling Silver Nautilus Shell Lariat Necklace - A sterling silver lariat-style necklace featuring a stylized nautilus shell motif. The necklace is constructed from a continuous strand of small, rounded silver beads, often referred to as liquid silver or corrugated beads. The design features a large central pendant in the form of a hollow-cast nautilus or snail shell. Two pendant strands descend from the bottom of this central shell, each terminating in a smaller shell bead. Four additional small shell-shaped stations are integrated into the main chain. The reverse of the central pendant shows a textured, hand-finished surface. There are no maker marks, signatures, or metal purity hallmarks visible on the piece; however, the material has the characteristic appearance of silver. The construction is a continuous loop intended to be worn without a clasp. Weight: 45.804 grams (1.4726 ozt) Length: 15.5 inches (total length to end of longest tassel) Drop: 3.5 inches (from central pendant to end of tassels). This antique piece shows signs of wear and age. The smooth surfaces of the central shell pendant exhibit numerous fine surface scratches and scuffs (photo 5). Moderate oxidation and tarnish are visible in the recessed grooves of the shell spirals and between the silver beads (photo 2 and photo 4). The silver beads and shell motifs appear structurally intact with no crushed elements or broken strands visible.
