Sterling Silver Marcasite and Garnet Filigree Cross Pendant - An antique sterling silver filigree cross pendant. The central crossing features a bezel-set round faceted dark red gemstone, consistent in appearance with a garnet. The openwork filigree arms are decorated with numerous small, faceted metallic stones consistent with marcasite. The pendant is suspended from a tapered bail. The reverse of the lower terminal features impressed marks in two separate lines: a rectangular cartouche containing the numerals 925 and a separate mark reading SILVER. Width: Approximately 1 3/8 inches Length: Approximately 2 1/4 inches from the top of the bail Weight: 4.571 grams. The pendant is in good antique condition. The sterling silver exhibits a dark patina and tarnish characteristic of age, particularly visible in the recessed areas of the filigree and on the reverse (photo 4 and 5). All stones appear present and intact (photo 1 and 2). The bail and structural filigree show no visible signs of damage or repair.
