Antique Sterling Silver Real Butterfly Wing Pendant on Snake Chain - This antique pendant necklace features a preserved real butterfly wing set in sterling silver. The pendant is triangular in form with a sawtooth bezel edge on the reverse. The front of the wing displays iridescent turquoise blue and green hues with dark brown or black accents, while the reverse shows the ventral side of the wing with a brown pattern and small iridescent blue eye spots. The pendant is suspended from a sterling silver snake chain. On the spring ring clasp, there is an impressed mark reading STERLING. On the jump ring attached to the clasp, there is an incised mark consisting of a diamond shape containing two parallel vertical lines. Additional small marks are present on the clasp and bail but are not legible as specific names or purity numbers. Length: 15.5 inches Pendant Length: 1.75 inches. The antique necklace shows age-related tarnish and oxidation on the silver surfaces of the chain and pendant setting (photo 1). The spring ring clasp shows minor distortion from use (photo 5). The preserved wing remains intact within its setting with natural color variation at the edges (photo 2).
