Victorian Gold Top Engraved Crescent Moon Brooch - This antique Victorian crescent moon brooch features a traditional celestial motif with hand-engraved foliate and scrolling patterns across the front face. The item is constructed with a gold top layer bonded to a base metal. The reverse side is impressed with a mark in capital letters reading GOLD TOP. The brooch is fitted with a period-appropriate pin mechanism consisting of a tube hinge, a white-toned metal pin stem, and an open C-clasp. Length: 1 inch (25 mm). The brooch shows signs of age consistent with its antique status. There is significant dark oxidation and tarnish across the reverse surface (photo 2) and around the hinge and clasp areas (photo 3). The front gold-topped surface displays light surface scratches and minor wear (photo 1). The pin stem shows some oxidation (photo 4).
