Sterling Silver and Oval Cabochon Malachite Filigree Pendant - This antique sterling silver pendant features a large oval malachite cabochon as the central focus. The gemstone exhibits characteristic light and dark green concentric banding and is secured within a raised bezel setting further accented by a twisted rope-texture wire border. The body of the pendant is designed with an openwork filigree frame composed of scrolling motifs. It is topped with a generous, tapered silver bail for suspension on a chain. The reverse side of the pendant includes an oval cutout that reveals the unpolished underside of the malachite stone. An incised mark is present on the reverse, where the characters 925 are legible, indicating the silver purity. Weight: 5.737 g (0.1844 ozt) Width: approximately 1 inch Length: approximately 1 1/4 inches from the top of the bail to the base. This antique piece displays a natural aged patina and tarnish throughout the silver metalwork, particularly within the recessed areas of the filigree and around the bezel (photo 1). Fine surface scratches and signs of wear consistent with age and use are visible on the metal surfaces (photo 3). The malachite cabochon remains intact with a polished surface and no visible cracks or chips (photo 2).
