Bidspirit auction | Antique Five Strand Salmon Coral

Antique Five Strand Salmon Coral Bead Necklace with Decorative Tab Clasp - This antique multi-strand necklace is composed of five strands of natural, undyed salmon-colored coral beads. The coral beads are irregular in shape, appearing as hand-cut discs and tumbled cylinders, with colors ranging from a soft salmon pink to a deep orange-red. The strands are secured by a yellow-toned metal box tab clasp featuring an ornate pierced and filigree cover with a central floral motif. The necklace utilizes five individual loops on each side of the clasp to connect the strands. The beads are strung on a fine cord. The reverse of the clasp is a solid, undecorated metal plate without visible hallmarks or stamps. Length: 16 inches. The necklace is in antique condition. The five strands of coral beads appear intact and securely strung. The box tab clasp functions correctly but shows a broken connection point where the strands attach to the metal loops (photo 4). Significant green oxidation, or verdigris, is visible on the metal connectors and loops joining the bead strands to the clasp (photo 3 and 4). The yellow metal finish on the clasp shows general surface patina and wear consistent with age (photo 3). Some individual coral beads exhibit natural surface pits and irregularities (photo 2).
