United States Navy Chief Petty Officer 10K Gold and Sterling Silver Signet Ring - A United States Navy (USN) military signet-style ring constructed from sterling silver with an applied 10K gold emblem. The rectangular face features a raised fouled anchor insignia, the traditional symbol of a USN Chief Petty Officer. The central emblem is framed by two rows of four stars, located at the top and bottom of the face. The shoulders of the ring are decorated in high relief with an American bald eagle with outstretched wings perched above a United States shield. Flanking the central face are two vertical ribbons bearing the Latin motto of the United States: E PLURIBUS on the left and UNUM on the right. The interior of the band features two impressed stamps; the top line reads 10K GOLD and the bottom line reads STERLING. Weight: 9.275 grams (0.2982 ozt) Size: 11.25. This antique service ring shows heavy tarnish and a dark patina in the recessed areas of the design (photo 1). There is significant softening and wear to the fine details of the eagle's feathers and the central anchor insignia consistent with long-term use (photo 2 and 3). The shank is completely fractured at the bottom center, resulting in a split band (photo 4). The internal hallmarks remain legible despite surface abrasions (photo 5).
