Bidspirit auction | Two Pairs of Sterling Silver

Two Pairs of Sterling Silver Cultured Pearl and Ammolite Drop Earrings - A collection of two matched pairs of antique drop earrings crafted in .925 sterling silver. The first pair features bezel-set freeform cabochons of ammolite or iridescent shell, displaying vivid green and pink-red flashes. Suspended from each bezel is a single white cultured baroque pearl with a soft iridescent luster. The second pair consists of simple shepherd's hook wires from which dark gray cultured pearls are suspended. These dark pearls exhibit a metallic luster with green and aubergine overtones. The ammolite earrings are secured with post-and-nut backings and clear plastic disk clutches, while the gray pearl earrings use shepherd's hook wires with clear plastic tube clutches. The back of the ammolite bezel setting features an impressed mark reading 925. The silver cap of the dark pearl earrings bears a similar impressed mark reading 925. No maker name is legible on the pieces. Length of ammolite and white pearl earrings: 1 1/2 inches Length of dark gray pearl earrings: 1 1/8 inches. These antique earrings are in good condition. Natural surface irregularities and pits are visible on the white baroque pearls (photo 1) and dark gray pearls (photo 2), which are characteristic of natural growth. The iridescent shell inserts show strong color play with no visible cracks in the cabochon surfaces. The sterling silver components exhibit minor surface scratches and faint oxidation consistent with age. Both pairs retain their plastic clutches.
