Antique Sterling Silver Cross Country Skier Figural Brooch - A three-dimensional figural brooch crafted in sterling silver, depicting a male cross-country skier in a dynamic forward-leaning motion. The figure is modeled with mid-20th-century winter attire and holds two ski poles equipped with circular baskets. The skier is mounted upon two skis that form the base of the composition. The reverse of the shoulders features a raised rectangular cartouche with impressed characters reading STERLING. Below this, there are additional compressed marks that are not clearly legible. The back of the piece is fitted with a standard pin stem and a safety catch mechanism. Width: 1 5/8 inches Height: 1 1/4 inches Weight: 6.424 grams. This antique brooch is in good condition. Tarnish and oxidation consistent with age are visible, particularly in the recessed areas of the clothing and around the poles (photo 1). The metal surface shows minor wear and typical casting textures on the reverse (photo 2). The pin mechanism is intact and functional.
