A Pair of Duchin Creation Sterling Silver Weighted Salt and Pepper Shakers - A pair of antique American sterling silver salt and pepper shakers in a neoclassical baluster form. Each shaker features a fluted lower body and a circular pedestal base finished with a gadrooned rope-twist border. The screw-on dome covers are pierced with holes for dispensing. The underside of each base is impressed with a circular mark depicting a hand holding an orchid, surrounded by the text STERLING and DUCHIN CREATION, and further marked WEIGHTED at the bottom. The weighted construction indicates the bases are filled with a non-precious material to provide stability. Height: 5 inches. Both shakers exhibit surface tarnish and oxidation consistent with antique silver throughout all surfaces (photo 1). There are visible areas of silver bloom, small dark spots of corrosion, and minor pitting, particularly around the mid-sections and bases (photo 2). The silver plating over the weighted core shows thinning in areas of high relief on the fluted sections (photo 3). The screw-on lids are functional and the pedestal bases appear level with no significant crushing or major dents visible.
