Thomas Begay Navajo Sterling Silver and 12k Gold Filled Storyteller Cuff Bracelet - A wide Navajo cuff bracelet in the storyteller style featuring mixed metal construction. The piece is composed of a patinated sterling silver base with applied 12k yellow gold filled relief elements. The central storyboard depicts Southwestern imagery including a horse, a covered wagon, a hogan, sunbursts, and mountain ranges. The borders and terminal ends are decorated with stamped geometric water and mountain motifs. The interior of the cuff is stamped with a mark reading T A B E G A Y in block letters, accompanied by a hallmark of two crossed arrows. Further stamps include 1/20 12K G.F. and Sterling in a script font. Interior diameter: 2 3/8 inches Width: 1 1/4 inches. This antique cuff shows characteristics consistent with age and traditional use. Significant surface oxidation and tarnish are visible throughout the silver base (photo 1). The gold filled relief elements exhibit fine surface scratches and wear to the high points of the plating (photo 2). The interior surface shows substantial scuffing and scratches (photo 6). The metal remains structurally sound with no visible cracks or fractures (photo 5).
