Antique 10K Gold Top Miniature Folding Pocket Knife Fob - This antique miniature folding pocket knife is designed as a watch chain fob or pendant. The construction features metal liners and handle covers with 10-karat gold-topped surfaces. Both sides of the handle are decorated with an engine-turned design consisting of vertical pinstripes and floral motifs bordering a central rectangular shield intended for engraving. The knife is equipped with two folding steel pen blades of different sizes. A fixed bail is attached to one end to allow for suspension from a chain or loop. The bail bears an impressed mark reading ”10K GOLD TOP” followed by the characters ”M&X”. Closed Length: 2 3/16 inches. This antique item shows signs of use and age consistent with its period. The gold-topped handle surfaces exhibit light to moderate surface scratching and minor scuffing (photos 1, 2, and 7). Both steel blades show significant dark oxidation, surface patina, and areas of pitting throughout (photos 1 and 2). The larger blade shows evidence of sharpening wear and minor irregularities along the cutting edge. The 10K mark on the bail remains clearly legible (photos 3, 4, and 5).
