A Pair of Sterling Silver X Motif Stud Earrings - A matched pair of antique sterling silver stud earrings, each featuring a three-dimensional sculptural X motif. The earrings are constructed with a high-relief, interlocking bar design and are secured with friction butterfly backs. The reverse of each earring is stamped with an impressed mark consisting of the numerals 925 and an impressed maker mark consisting of the letters NF. The 925 mark is clearly legible and indicates the sterling silver fineness of the metal. The NF mark is clearly visible on the reverse of both earrings. Width: 0.5 inches. The earrings are in good antique condition. Both earrings exhibit an aged patina with significant tarnish visible in the recessed areas of the design and on the reverse (photo 4). Moderate surface wear is present in the form of fine scratches consistent with age and use (photo 1). The earring posts are straight and the friction backs are present (photo 3). No irregular breaks or losses are visible.
