Vintage Sterling Silver and Abalone Shell Taxco Style Hinged Link Bracelet - A Mexican sterling silver hinged link bracelet featuring iridescent abalone shell inlays. The bracelet is constructed with five rectangular panels, each set with a slice of polished green and blue abalone shell featuring applied silver-tone motifs depicting Pre-Columbian iconography. These designs include stylized Tlaloc masks, a shield with crossed arrows, and a figure in an acrobatic pose. The rectangular links alternate with spacer bars decorated with triple spherical beads. The piece is secured by an integrated box tab insert clasp. The underside of the clasp features two stamped marks: the top mark is an impressed rectangular stamp reading HAR. followed by a period; below this is a circular impressed stamp reading HECHO EN MEXICO surrounding the numerals 925 in the center. Length: 7 1/2 inches Width: 1 inch. The antique bracelet exhibits a natural aged patina with surface oxidation and tarnish throughout the silver components, particularly visible on the reverse of the links (photo 6). A small area of reddish-brown discoloration or residue is present on the shell inlay of the central mask link (photo 1). The spherical beads show minor surface wear and occasional small indentations consistent with age. All hinges and the clasp mechanism appear to be in functional condition.
