Antique Green Enamel and Rhinestone Palm Tree Brooch - This antique costume jewelry brooch features a tropical motif of two palm trees situated on a verdant island base. The piece is constructed from a silver-toned base metal, likely pot metal, with a textured reverse. The palm fronds and the base are finished with translucent green enamel over a textured metal surface. The curving trunks are accented with a series of inset clear, round-cut foil-backed rhinestones. The reverse of the brooch displays a simple pin mechanism with a rolling safety c-clasp. There are no visible maker marks, signatures, or metal purity hallmarks on the piece; the back features a cast textured finish. Height: 1 5/8 inches. The brooch is in antique condition consistent with age. One rhinestone is missing from the lower portion of the right-hand tree trunk (photo 2). Several remaining rhinestones show age-related foil degradation resulting in a grayed or darkened appearance (photo 1). The green enamel is largely intact with a small area of wear at the tip of the lower-left frond (photo 2). The silver-tone finish on the reverse and in recessed areas of the design shows significant surface oxidation and darkening (photo 3).
