Sterling Silver and Mother of Pearl Tree of Life Openwork Brooch - This openwork sterling silver brooch features an oval frame containing a stylized winter nature scene. The design depicts a gnarled, leafless tree on the left and a smaller shrub-like form on the lower right, with branches extending across a central circular element. This central element is a flat disc of iridescent white mother of pearl held in place by three rectangular prongs. The brooch is constructed with a cast openwork technique, and the reverse features a pin stem with a circular hinge and a rolling safety lock clasp. The metal has an oxidized finish with dark patina and iridescent tarnish on the reverse. On the reverse side at the base of the small tree, there is an impressed mark featuring the letters JJ and a copyright symbol ©. Below this is an impressed number 925. This antique brooch is in good vintage condition. The mother of pearl disc is intact with no visible chips or cracks. The pin mechanism is functional. Significant oxidation and colorful iridescent tarnish are present on the metal surfaces, particularly visible on the reverse (photo 2 and 3).
