A Group of American Flyer S Gauge Model Train Tender and Hopper Components - This lot consists of a group of disassembled vintage model train components. Included is a die-cast metal tender body featuring a black finish. The side is marked with printed white serif lettering reading AMERICAN FLYER LINES, and the rear displays a circular printed logo for the NEW YORK CENTRAL SYSTEM. Accompanying the tender is a stamped tinplate hopper body finished in blue paint with printed white serif lettering reading AMERICAN FLYER. The internal chassis components are constructed of stamped steel. The collection includes various mechanical and electrical parts such as detached wheel sets, axles with black wheels, and a bundle of internal wiring connected to an electronic reversing unit. The wiring shows frayed insulation and exposed copper leads. Several stamped metal base plates with rectangular and circular apertures are present. , The items are in a state of complete disassembly with numerous missing parts, including the primary locomotive (photo 1). The die-cast tender body shows significant paint loss and chipping, particularly along the molded rivets and edges (photo 6). The blue tinplate hopper body exhibits heavy surface oxidation, pitting, and widespread rust across the exterior and interior surfaces (photo 5, photo 7). The internal chassis plates and wheel axles show significant corrosion and accumulated grime (photo 3). Wiring is disconnected and frayed in multiple areas (photo 2).
