The static model represents the iconic No. 400E Blue Comet engine. The locomotive is finished in a turquoise blue and dark navy blue livery with silver-painted details including piping, domes, and trim. It features a plastic base and wheels, with the wheels finished in silver and detailed with red spokes. The cowcatcher at the front is painted red. The locomotive features several identifying marks. On the side of the boiler, a small rectangular plaque is inscribed with the characters LIONEL / No. 400E. On the side of the cab, there is a circular logo containing a stylized red, white, and blue L. The original cardboard packaging is present; one end flap is printed in green text reading AVON / THE LIONEL / CLASSIC TRAIN COLLECTION: / BLUE COMET / with wood display base. The wood display base mentioned on the packaging is not present. , The locomotive shows general signs of wear typical for a collectible figurine. Small paint chips and surface scuffs are visible on protruding edges, specifically on the red cowcatcher (photo 4) and the dark blue chassis (photo 2). There is visible dust accumulation in the recessed areas, including the interior of the cab (photo 6) and around the rivets on the top of the boiler (photo 1). The original box shows light edge wear and minor creasing but remains intact (photo 7).
