Lionel Trains 3451 Operating Log Dumping Flatcar with Original Box - A vintage Lionel Trains O gauge operating log dumping flatcar, model number 3451. The car is constructed with a die-cast metal frame and trucks, featuring a black plastic deck and four vertical stakes. The car includes six wooden logs secured by a rubber band. The underside of the car displays the operating mechanism, which includes a solenoid, a contact shoe, and electrical wiring in yellow and blue. The car is embossed on the metal frame sides with 3451 LIONEL LINES 3451. Included with the car is the original Lionel orange-and-blue cardboard box, which features the text LIONEL ELECTRIC TRAINS and the model number 3451. The box also bears the printed name THE LIONEL CORPORATION and the phrase MADE IN U. S. OF AMERICA. The interior of the box retains its corrugated cardboard structural liners. , The car is in good vintage condition with signs of age. The die-cast frame exhibits surface oxidation and pitting, commonly referred to as zinc rot, visible along the lower edges (photos 2 and 3). The plastic deck and stakes show an accumulation of dust. The wooden logs are held by a non-original rubber band (photo 1). The underside wiring appears intact, though the mechanical operation is untested (photo 4). The original box is in poor to fair condition; it is missing both end flaps and shows significant tearing, creasing, and fraying to the edges and corners (photos 5 and 6). The internal liners are present but show wear and compression.
