Athearn HO Scale Texas & Pacific 812 Diesel Switcher Locomotive - A powered HO scale model diesel locomotive of the SW1500 switcher type, constructed with a molded plastic body shell mounted on a die-cast metal chassis. The model is finished in a black and yellow chevron ”tiger stripe” livery. The side panels of the hood are printed with the railroad name TEXAS & PACIFIC in black block lettering, and the cab sides bear the number 812 in yellow. The locomotive features a central motor with a gear drive mechanism visible on the rear truck and is fitted with X2F horn-hook style couplers at both ends. The front and rear ends of the body feature yellow and black diagonal warning stripes. The chassis is painted black and includes molded details representing fuel tanks and truck sideframes. Small molded details on the roof include four exhaust stacks and a single headlight housing at the front. , The locomotive is in used condition and shows a heavy accumulation of dust and surface grime across the entire body, walkways, and roof (photos 1, 2, 4). There are multiple paint chips and scuffs, notably along the edges of the yellow side panels (photos 1, 3) and the edges of the cab roof (photo 3). The metal wheels show visible oxidation and surface wear (photo 5). All peripheral handrails, stanchions, and walkway railings are missing from the sides and ends (photos 1, 2, 3, 4). The air horn detail is missing from the roof, leaving a small mounting hole (photo 2). The gear drive and internal wiring are visible through the underside of the chassis; the mechanical and electrical components are untested (photo 5).
