Lionel Corporation 6110 Steam Locomotive and Lionel Scout Tender - A vintage O-gauge model train set consisting of a steam locomotive and matching tender. The locomotive features a die-cast metal body with an internal electric motor and a geared drive system. The cab side is printed with the number 6110 in white. A metal plate on the underside is stamped BUILT IN THE U.S. OF AMERICA BY THE LIONEL CORPORATION NEW YORK, N.Y. The locomotive includes a sliding forward/reverse switch on the top of the boiler. The tender is constructed of stamped sheet metal with sides printed LIONEL SCOUT in a white serif typeface. The tender features two four-wheel trucks and a rear coupler. , The set is in fair, incomplete condition. The locomotive is missing the front pilot truck assembly, leaving the front axle support empty (photo 1). The rear trailing truck is present but sits loosely (photo 4). The black paint on both pieces shows significant wear, including widespread scuffing, paint loss on raised edges and rivets, and general surface grime (photos 1-4). There is heavy oxidation and rust visible on the tender's metal wheels, axles, and underside (photo 6). The locomotive's metal side rods and underside components also show surface oxidation and tarnishing (photo 5). The rear coupling pin on the locomotive and the coupler on the tender show heavy surface rust (photo 3). The internal wiring and motor show significant dust accumulation, and the mechanical function is untested.
