Lionel Corporation No. 318E Standard Gauge Electric Locomotive - A vintage electric locomotive for standard track, constructed primarily from painted tinplate with brass-toned trim and cast-metal components. The engine features a center-cab design with twin-hooded ends, finished in a mojave color with a dark brown roof and a black frame. The cab sides are decorated with embossed oval brass-toned plates. On one side of the door, an oval plate is printed LIONEL, and on the opposite side, a similar plate is printed 318E. The locomotive is equipped with brass-toned handrails, flag holders, and a pantograph. The underside features a metal plate on the motor frame reading LIONEL SUPER-MOTOR FOR STANDARD TRACK THE LIONEL CORPORATION, N.Y. The wheels have red-painted spokes, and the rims are embossed with text, including LIONEL ENGINEERING WORKS, which is partially legible on one wheel rim. The locomotive features dual headlights and colored marker lights at each end of the hoods. , The locomotive is in used vintage condition with visible surface dust and light grime across the body (photo 1). Minor paint chipping and scratches are present, specifically along the roof edges, corners of the hoods, and the black frame (photo 3). Some oxidation and tarnish are visible on the brass-toned trim and the metal components of the motor (photo 5). One coupler is bent and has a white string attached (photo 4). Remnants of cobwebs are present on the underside and near the couplers (photo 2, photo 5). The lightbulbs are intact but the electrical functionality of the motor and lights is untested.
