A Collection of Lionel O and O27 Gauge Die-Cast Steam Locomotives and Motorized Components - This collection consists of several vintage O and O27 gauge model train components manufactured from die-cast metal with steel and copper internal elements. The assortment includes four locomotive boiler shells and multiple motorized chassis units in various states of assembly. One 2-6-4 steam locomotive features a die-cast shell with the numerals 2025 printed in silver on the cab side. The underside of the frame carries a black and silver metal plate with the printed text MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA, LIONEL O27, and THE LIONEL CORPORATION, N.Y. A second 2-6-2 locomotive is marked with the numerals 2026 on the cab. Its underside is fitted with a black plate reading IMPORTANT LUBRICATE AS PER INSTRUCTIONS THE LIONEL CORPORATION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA. A third locomotive shell is marked 2034 on the cab side, with BUILT BY LIONEL CORP. embossed on the boiler front. A fourth shell bears the numerals 2037 on the cab. The lot includes six separate motorized chassis units, some featuring copper-wound field coils and visible gear assemblies. Several units retain drive wheels with spoke details. Additional loose components include four die-cast side frames, various wheel sets, and motor armatures. The interior frames of the shells are embossed with MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA. , This collection is offered in parts or project condition for restoration or salvage. All die-cast shells exhibit significant and widespread paint loss, chipping, and surface crazing (photos 1, 4, 12, 14, 16). Extensive oxidation and heavy surface rust are present on the internal steel frames, gear teeth, and motor components (photos 2, 3, 11, 15, 20). The units are incomplete: the 2026 locomotive is missing its pilot and trailing trucks (photo 16); the 2025 locomotive is missing the pilot truck and several linkage rods (photo 12); and the 2034 shell is an empty casting missing its entire motor and drive assembly (photo 10). Wiring is frayed or detached on several motorized units. All items are untested and are likely non-functional in their current state due to corrosion and missing parts.
