Academy 1/48 Scale P-38 Lightning Combination Version Model Kit - A vintage plastic model airplane kit manufactured in Korea. The kit is a 1/48th scale representation of the P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft. The packaging features a multi-variant design, identified on the box as a combination version that allows for the construction of one of four specific models: P-38J, P-38J Droopsnoot, P-38L Pathfinder, or F-5E Photo Recon. The kit includes plastic components with specialized tires noted as being made of P.V.C. Features described on the packaging include a highly detailed cockpit interior, landing gear compartment, and fully engraved panel lines. The box art illustrates a P-38J in ”Putt Putt Maru” livery in aerial combat with Japanese Mitsubishi G4M ”Betty” bombers. The top left corner of the box features a red and white logo reading ACADEMY HOBBY MODEL KITS. The item number 12282 is printed on the side panel. A red adhesive distributor label on the side reads MODEL RECTIFIER CORP. EDISON, NEW JERSEY 08837 MANUFACTURED IN KOREA FOR AGE 14 YEARS AND UP. The kit includes one aircraft model; glue and paint are not included as indicated by the printed text on the lower right of the box front. , The kit is in New Old Stock (NOS) condition, remains in its original factory shrink-wrap, and is unopened. The box displays light shelf wear. There is noticeable bowing and slight crushing to the cardboard side panels caused by the tension of the plastic shrink-wrap (photo 2 and 3). The box art remains vibrant with no visible fading, though there are minor surface scuffs on the shrink-wrap itself (photo 5).
