Illinois Springfield Watch Co. 18 Size Silveroid Key Wind Pocket Watch - This is an American open-face pocket watch featuring a full-plate manual movement. The white porcelain dial is printed in black with Roman numeral hour markers, a minute track, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is marked ILLINOIS / SPRINGFIELD WATCH CO below the 12 o'clock position. The movement is decorated with a gilt finish and an intricately engraved balance cock. The movement plate is engraved Springfield, Ill., Patent Pinion, and the serial number No. 35539. The watch is housed in a white metal alloy case. The interior of the case back bears a stamped mark consisting of the words KEYSTONE and WATCHCASE inside hexagonal frames above a keystone-shaped logo containing a scales symbol, with the word SILVEROID in a hexagonal frame below, followed by the serial number 8726469. The interior dust cover is stamped with the words GUARANTEED / SILVEROID / GENUINE above the same keystone logo and the serial number 8726469. A partial serial number 26469 is stamped on the inner rim of the case frame. The watch features blued steel hands and a pendant with a circular bow. Diameter: 2 1/4 inches Total length including bow: 3 1/8 inches. The watch is in aged, non-running condition. The porcelain dial exhibits multiple significant hairline cracks radiating from the center and the sub-seconds dial, along with surface grime (photo 3). The crystal is missing from the bezel (photo 1). The blued steel hands show surface oxidation. The case exhibits heavy wear, including tarnishing and multiple dents, most notably on the outer rim and the back cover (photo 4). The movement appears complete but shows surface oxidation and dust; the balance wheel is stationary (photo 6). The winding key is not present.
