Bulova 10K Gold Filled Curvex Style 21 Jewel Manual Wind Wristwatch - A vintage Bulova manual wind wristwatch featuring a dramatic curved rectangular 10K gold filled case in the Art Deco Curvex style. The silver-toned dial is signed BULOVA in black sans-serif lettering below the 12 o'clock position and features applied gold-tone Arabic numeral hour markers and a square subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock. The gold-tone hour and minute hands are of a cathedral-inspired design. The mechanical movement is visible and is engraved in gold lettering U.S.A. BULOVA WATCH CO. 21 JEWELS ADJUSTED, featuring the caliber code 7AP within a rectangular border and a small horseshoe symbol. The movement is fitted with a modern black Hirsch lizard-grain leather strap with a gold-tone buckle. The underside of the strap is stamped 15 HIRSCH and Water Resistant / Allergy Resistant. The exterior case back is stamped at the upper edge B-10K GOLD FILLED and at the lower edge with the serial number 7696836. The interior case back is finished in a circular engine-turned pattern and is stamped BULOVA FIFTH AVE NEW YORK. Several hand-engraved jeweler service marks are present on the interior case back, including the date 12-16-49 and the codes A124653 and A121149. Case width: 22 mm (excluding crown) Case length: 45 mm (lug to lug) Overall length: 8.5 inches. The watch is in running condition. The case shows moderate surface scratching and wear to the gold-filled layer (brassing) on the lug tips and case edges (photo 1). The winding crown displays significant green verdigris and oxidation at the stem (photo 10). The dial exhibits heavy patina, darkening, and spotting, particularly concentrated around the periphery and at the 4 and 8 o'clock markers (photo 9). The gold-tone hands and hour markers show surface oxidation. The curved crystal has minor surface scratches (photo 3). The case back has heavy surface scratches and small areas of oxidation (photo 6). The modern leather strap is in good, wearable condition.
