Illinois Watch Company 14 Karat White Gold Filled Manual Wind Ladies Wristwatch - A ladies manual wind wristwatch manufactured by the Illinois Watch Company. The timepiece features an octagonal Art Deco case with intricate foliate engravings along the bezel and sides. The textured champagne dial is set with black Arabic numerals and an inner minute track. The case interior is stamped with a series of marks including the number 153, ILLINOIS WATCH, SPRINGFIELD, 14K.GOLD FILLED, Wadsworth QUALITY, and the serial number 8312210. A hand-scratched jeweler mark reading 4/08 is also present on the inner case back. The mechanical movement is stamped ILLINOIS, 17 JEWELS, and 807A, along with the serial number 5589134 and an F-S regulator scale. The watch is fitted with an integrated flexible link bracelet featuring a textured finish and a clasp with a mark inside an oval that is not legible as a name. The winding crown is decorated with an embossed geometric motif. The watch does not run. Based on the accompanying scale, the case measures approximately 29mm in length from lug to lug and 15mm in width excluding the crown. The watch is in used, antique condition. The case shows significant surface scratching and widespread wear to the gold-filled plating, particularly evident at the lugs and edges of the case back (photo 4). The crystal is heavily yellowed and exhibits numerous surface abrasions (photo 2). The dial shows heavy oxidation and dark spotting throughout (photo 1). The movement plates exhibit visible oxidation and spotting (photo 5). The integrated bracelet shows heavy wear, dirt accumulation, and significant loss of plating (photo 8). The watch does not run and requires mechanical service.
