Bulova Ladies 10K Rolled Gold Plate and Sterling Silver Manual Wind Wristwatch with Fifth Avenue Presentation Box - A vintage ladies Bulova wristwatch featuring a manual wind mechanism. The watch case is constructed from 10K rolled gold plate over a sterling silver base. The case back exterior is stamped 10K ROLLED GOLD BULOVA PLATE and bears the serial number E121910. The interior of the case back is marked BULOVA, 10K ROLLED GOLD PLATE, STERLING BASE, NEW YORK. The dial is finished in an aged off-white tone with applied gold-tone Arabic numerals and the Bulova name printed below the 12 o'clock position. The internal 17-jewel mechanical movement is a Bulova caliber 6AH, stamped BULOVA WATCH CO., SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, SWISS, UNADJUSTED, and 6AH. The movement also bears the Swiss import code BXW and an omega-style date symbol corresponding to late 1940s production. The watch is fitted with a stainless steel expansion bracelet featuring 1/20-12K gold filled tops. Individual links are stamped FIXO-FLEX, 1/20-12K G.F. TOP, and 2-48. The watch is accompanied by its original maroon velvet and silk-lined presentation box, with the interior lid printed in gold lettering BULOVA Fifth Avenue NEW YORK. The watch is in heavily worn, non-functioning condition and is currently disassembled with the movement removed from the case (photo 8). The dial shows significant oxidation, spotting, and general discoloration across the entire surface (photo 8). The gold plating on the case has worn through to the sterling silver base (brassing) on the lugs and high points of the bezel (photo 2). The crystal exhibits numerous surface scratches (photo 3). The expansion bracelet shows heavy accumulation of dirt and oxidation between the links (photo 11). The presentation box displays age-related wear, including fraying to the velvet exterior and staining to the interior silk lining (photo 1). The watch should be considered for parts or restoration.
