Bidspirit auction | A dark-stained wooden wall clock

A dark-stained wooden wall clock for the Ottoman market, Junghans, circa 1910 - This wall clock, designed for the Ottoman market, features a dark-stained wooden case in the Vienna regulator style. The case is constructed with a pedimented top housing a central turned finial, two smaller flanking turned elements, and a central carved flower head. Two vertical columns with floral relief carvings flank the glazed front door. The lower section consists of a shaped apron terminating in a turned pendant finial. The interior contains a separate pendulum and a winding key. A musical cylinder mechanism is mounted behind the movement. The circular dial is light-toned and features Ottoman (Eastern Arabic) numerals. A printed mark in the center of the dial consists of a circle containing a diamond with the letter J. inside. The clock has two winding holes and black-finished metal hands, including a spade-shaped hour hand. The musical cylinder mechanism is stamped with the number 1431. The gridiron-style pendulum features a brass-finished bob engraved with the letters R and H flanking a central arrow. Height: Approximately 20 inches from the top finial to the bottom pendant finial. Width: Approximately 8.5 inches at the widest point of the base. The wooden case shows multiple areas of finish loss, surface scratches, and chipped wood, notably on the right side of the upper arch (photo 3) and the lower right decorative block (photo 10). There is a significant accumulation of dust and debris across the exterior and within the interior compartment (photo 5). The dial exhibits general yellowing and localized staining (photo 4). The pendulum is detached from the movement and is currently resting on the floor of the case (photo 5). The glass front is intact but requires cleaning.
