Miracle Clock Countertop Illuminated Amusement Device by Amusement Sales Co. - A mid-century electric novelty mantel or countertop device featuring an illuminated dial. The case is constructed with a molded cream-colored plastic front facade, a brushed sheet metal body secured with screws, and a blue-stained plywood back and base. The translucent dial is divided into twelve colorful radiating segments in yellow, red, and blue, featuring raised dark blue Arabic numerals and a single centrally mounted cream-colored hand with a red diamond-shaped tip. The lower portion of the plastic housing features the raised dark blue text ”GOOD ANY TIME”. The plywood back panel features stamped text in white and orange ink. The upper portion is stamped MIRACLE CLOCK with a smaller line below reading PAT. APPLIED FOR. The lower portion is stamped AMUSEMENT SALES CO. 41 UNION SQUARE, NEW YORK, N.Y. The device is powered by a corded electrical connection and features a single toggle switch on the side of the metal housing. The internal lighting circuit illuminates the starburst pattern on the dial. Width: 13 inches Height: 10.5 inches. The device shows signs of age and use consistent with mid-20th-century bar or amusement equipment. The plastic front shows surface grime and generalized yellowing (photo 1). The metal housing exhibits significant oxidation, surface scratching, and localized staining (photo 3). The wooden base and plywood back show edge wear, minor splintering, and areas of finish loss (photo 4). The stamped maker information on the back is partially faded and worn (photo 5). There are remnants of adhesive and paper from previous labeling on the back panel (photo 4). The electrical cord and plug show age-related wear and discoloration (photo 8). The illumination is functional, but the mechanical accuracy of the clock movement has not been tested.
