Antique Junghans Wood Case Regulator Wall Clock - A German regulator-style wall clock featuring a mechanical spring-driven movement housed in a wood case, likely walnut. The case is constructed with turned pilasters flanking the glass front, a pediment topped with a central carved wood motif, and a decorative bracket base. The circular cream-colored dial features black Roman numeral hour markers, two winding arbors, and pierced black metal hands. Centered on the upper portion of the dial is a printed eight-pointed star containing the letter J, with the characters JUNGHANS arranged around the interior points of the star. A metal gong coil for the strike mechanism is visible behind the movement within the case. The reverse of the case is fitted with two metal hanging brackets, one of which is a perforated metal strip secured by a screw. The clock is accompanied by a detached metal winding key, a circular metal pendulum, and one detached wooden finial or drop. Height: 21 1/2 inches Width: 7 1/4 inches. The clock is in an untested and non-functional state with the pendulum, winding key, and one wooden finial detached and resting in the bottom of the case (photo 6). The wood case shows widespread surface wear, including scuffs, scratches, and indentations, most notably on the lower shelf and bracket (photo 8). The top of the case has a heavy accumulation of dust and debris (photo 2). The dial exhibits age-related yellowing and minor surface staining (photo 5). Metal components on the reverse show surface oxidation and the hanging hardware appears modified (photo 9).
