Bidspirit auction | Hormilton Electra Manual Wind Wristwatch
Hormilton Electra Manual Wind Wristwatch with Date - A Swiss manual wind wristwatch featuring a gold-tone base metal case. The sunburst gold-tone dial is set with applied gold-tone baton indices and Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, and 9 o'clock positions. A date aperture is located at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is printed with a cursive brand name reading Hormilton above the block text ELECTRA, with ANTIMAGNETIC printed above the date window and SWISS MADE at the bottom edge. The case back is stamped with a central crest depicting a gear wheel surrounded by four stars and foliate mantling. Below the crest, the text BASE METAL and SWISS MADE are impressed in rectangular cartouches. The interior of the case back is stamped with a circular mark reading GISIGER GREDER SON and SWISS MADE. The manual movement is stamped GISIGER-GREDER SON, SWISS UNADJUSTED, and ONE 1 JEWEL. An Ebauches Bettlach shield logo containing the letters EB is visible next to the caliber number 8800. The watch is presented without a strap but retains two spring bars. Per user-provided facts, the watch runs. Case size: approximately 35mm in diameter excluding the crown. The watch is in fair vintage condition. The gold-tone plating on the base metal case shows significant wear, pitting, and brassing, most notably on the lugs and the outer edges of the bezel (photos 1, 2, and 5). The acrylic crystal exhibits numerous fine surface scratches and scuffs across its entirety (photo 1). The dial shows light spotting and minor oxidation consistent with age (photo 2). The case back has heavy surface scratching and wear to the plating (photo 3). The movement appears complete and is noted to be in running condition; however, timekeeping accuracy and power reserve have not been tested.
