Vintage Elgin 17 Jewel Mechanical Ladies Dress Watch with Octagonal Case and Gradient Dial - A vintage ladies mechanical dress watch. The timepiece features an octagonal base metal bezel with a textured gold-tone finish. The dial displays a brown-to-orange gradient sunburst effect, set with applied gold-tone baton hour markers and two central gold-tone hands. The dial is printed in gold with a stylized E logo, the name ELGIN, and the text 17 JEWELS. The winding crown also features the embossed stylized E logo. The stainless steel case back is exteriorly stamped BASE METAL BEZEL STAINLESS STEEL BACK. Internally, the case back is stamped ELGIN and GERMANY. The manual wind mechanical movement is engraved ELGIN WATCH Co. and 17 JEWELS. The watch is fitted with an integrated gold-tone textured link bracelet featuring a fold-over clasp. Case width: 17mm (excluding crown) Total length: 6 inches. The watch is in used vintage condition. There is significant wear and loss to the gold-tone plating on the bezel, crown, and bracelet links, exposing the base metal beneath (photos 1, 2, and 5). The acrylic crystal exhibits visible surface scratches across the face (photo 6). The stainless steel case back shows surface scratches and minor pitting (photo 7). A small amount of fibrous debris is caught around the winding stem near the crown (photo 10). Per user-provided facts, the movement is currently in a state where the watch runs then stops.
