Bidspirit auction | Elbon Vintage Gold Tone Base

Elbon Vintage Gold Tone Base Metal Mechanical Wristwatch - This vintage wristwatch features a circular base metal case with a gold-tone finish. The black dial is printed with the name ELBON in copper-toned characters below the 12 o'clock position. The dial layout includes a copper-toned inner ring with Arabic numerals and an outer chapter ring featuring a telemetric or pulsometric scale with graduations up to 60. Three hands are present, including a central sweep seconds hand with a spade-shaped counterbalance. The watch is equipped with a large, fluted, onion-style crown at the 3 o'clock position. The reverse features a plain, polished stainless steel or base metal snap-back case cover with no visible inscriptions or marks. The watch is a manual-wind mechanical model and is noted to be in running condition. It is presented without a strap, retaining two metal spring bars between the lugs. The case diameter measures approximately 29mm excluding the crown, as seen against the provided wooden ruler (photo 6). The watch is in well-worn vintage condition. The acrylic crystal is heavily distressed, showing significant scratches across the entire surface and visible cracks along the bottom and left edges (photos 1, 2, and 6). The gold-tone plating on the case exhibits heavy wear and loss, particularly on the lugs and case sides, revealing the base metal underneath (photos 4 and 5). Green oxidation, or verdigris, is visible around the lug areas and the case back seam (photo 3). The dial shows signs of aging and potential moisture exposure around the perimeter. The crown shows surface wear and brassing. While the movement is reported to be running, its service history and timekeeping accuracy are unknown.
