Elgin DeLuxe Shockmaster 10K Gold Filled Men's Wristwatch - A vintage men's wristwatch featuring a circular cream dial with a heavily patinated finish. The dial displays the maker's name ELGIN in printed black uppercase letters below the twelve o'clock position, followed by DeLuxe in a script typeface. Below this is a small stylized logo consisting of the characters dp, identifying the DuraPower mainspring. The word SHOCKMASTER is printed in an arc above the six o'clock position. The dial is set with applied gold-tone Arabic numerals at the even hours and dot indices at the odd hours, framed by a minute track. The timepiece retains its original syringe-style hour and minute hands and a central sweep seconds hand. The case is constructed with a 10K gold filled bezel and a stainless steel screw-down back. The case back is stamped with several circular inscriptions: 10K GOLD FILLED BEZEL, STAINLESS STEEL BACK, RESISTANT TO SHOCK - WATER - DUST AND MAGNETISM, and DURAPOWER MAINSPRING. The hands show advanced oxidation and corrosion, with the original luminous infill either darkened or missing (photo 2). The case displays significant wear to the gold filling, with brassing visible on the edges and tips of the lugs (photo 5). The crown is heavily worn and pitted (photo 4). The case back shows numerous surface scratches and four distinct circular indentations likely from a case-opening tool (photo 3). The upper lug retains a bent metal spring bar, and no strap is present (photo 6).
