Gruen Precision Autowind 25 Jewels Gold Tone Automatic Wristwatch - This Swiss-made wristwatch features a circular champagne sunburst dial marked GRUEN PRECISION. The dial is set with applied gold-tone dart hour markers and Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. Centered are gold-tone dauphine hands with luminescent inserts and a sweep seconds hand. The dial is further inscribed 25 JEWELS, AUTOWIND, and RA SWISS RA at the base. The watch is constructed with a yellow gold-colored base metal bezel and a screw-down stainless steel case back. The exterior of the case back is stamped GRUEN AUTOMATIC WATERPROOF SHOCK RESISTANT ANTI-MAGNETIC BASE METAL BEZEL STAINLESS STEEL BACK. The interior of the case back is stamped STAINLESS STEEL BACK, GRUEN WATCH CO. SWITZERLAND and includes a black ink mark 377 alongside several hand-scratched jeweler service codes. The internal automatic movement is visible and is engraved GRUEN WATCH CO. PRECISION, N 710 SS, 25 JEWELS, and SWISS. The balance bridge bears the three-letter import code GXC. The watch is fitted with an aftermarket Speidel stainless steel expansion band with a gold-tone finish. The underside of the expansion links are stamped Speidel and PATENTED, while the end links are stamped STAINLESS STEEL. The watch runs. Case size: 34mm diameter excluding crown; 41mm lug-to-lug. The dial shows heavy oxidation, spotting, and a pervasive age-related patina across the sunburst finish (photo 2). The crystal is significantly damaged, displaying numerous surface scratches, scuffs, and distinct cracks, particularly located near the 4 and 5 o'clock positions (photo 1). The gold-tone finish on the base metal bezel exhibits extensive wear, with visible brassing and pitting concentrated on the lugs and the area surrounding the crown (photo 3, 6). The stainless steel case back has moderate surface scratching from use (photo 7). The Speidel expansion bracelet shows surface wear, stretching of the links, and accumulated debris between the links (photo 5, 11).
