Vintage Timex Automatic Date Wristwatch Reference 4144 3270 - A vintage gold-tone men's wristwatch featuring a sunburst champagne dial. The dial displays applied gold-tone baton hour markers with stylized Arabic numerals at the 12, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, and a date aperture located at 3 o'clock. The dial is printed with the name TIMEX below 12 o'clock and the text SELF-WIND above the 6 o'clock position. At the very bottom edge of the dial, the reference numbers 4143 3270 are printed. The case is constructed with a gold-tone base metal bezel and a screw-down stainless steel case back. The case back is stamped centrally with the TIMEX name and features perimeter text reading WATER RESISTANT, SELF-WIND, DUST RESISTANT, STAINLESS STEEL BACK, and BASE METAL BEZEL. The watch retains two original metal spring bars but is presented without a strap or bracelet. The mechanical automatic movement is currently in a state where it runs then stops. Case diameter: 34mm (measured across the widest point excluding the crown). The watch is in well-used vintage condition. The acrylic crystal is heavily scratched and scuffed across its entire surface (photo 1). The gold-tone plating on the bezel and lugs shows significant wear and brassing, with the base metal visible on the edges and corners (photos 3, 4, and 7). There is visible oxidation and green verdigris buildup around the crown and in the crevices between the lugs (photos 2, 5, and 6). The crown itself exhibits heavy wear to its plated finish (photo 3). The stainless steel case back shows numerous surface scratches and general wear (photo 2). Mechanically, the watch runs then stops and requires professional servicing.
