Vintage Wittnauer 10K RGP Manual Wind Ladies Wristwatch - A mid-century ladies mechanical wristwatch by Wittnauer. The watch features a gold-tone sunburst textured dial with applied gold-tone Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, and faceted baton markers for the remaining hours. The dial is signed WITTNAUER in capital letters below the 12. The timepiece is housed in a shaped case with a 10K yellow gold rolled gold plate (RGP) bezel and a stainless steel back. The exterior of the case back is stamped with a star symbol, 10K RGP BEZEL, and STAINLESS BACK. The interior of the case back is stamped WITTNAUER, NEW YORK, GENEVA, MONTREAL, STAR W. C. CO., 10K RGP BEZEL, STAINLESS BACK, 2268-P, and serial number 2373790. The manual wind 17-jewel movement is stamped WITTNAUER WATCH CO INC, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, SWISS, UNADJUSTED, and bears the import codes LN9 and AXA. The watch is fitted with a gold-tone expansion bracelet. The interior clasp of the bracelet features an impressed mark consisting of a J and B inside a triangle, the word CHAMPION, and MADE IN U.S.A. The watch case measures approximately 17mm excluding the crown. The total length of the watch and bracelet assembly is approximately 6.25 inches. The watch is confirmed as running (photo 8). The gold-tone sunburst dial shows minor age-related discoloration and dust under the crystal (photo 2). The crystal exhibits significant surface scratching and scuffs (photo 2). The 10K RGP bezel shows visible wear and brassing along the edges and lugs (photo 1). The stainless steel case back has fine surface scratches (photo 4). The movement shows minor oxidation on the steel components but appears mechanically intact (photo 6). The expansion band shows moderate wear to the gold plating and accumulated grime between the links (photo 7).
