Vintage Wittnauer 10K Gold Filled Automatic Wristwatch with Crosshair Dial - A vintage Wittnauer automatic wristwatch featuring a circular case and a champagne-toned crosshair dial. The dial is quartered by vertical and horizontal lines and is printed with the name WITTNAUER above AUTOMATIC in black sans-serif characters. The hour positions are marked with applied gold-tone arrow-head indices, and the time is indicated by dauphine-style hour and minute hands and a slender sweep second hand. The watch is constructed with a 10 karat gold-filled bezel and a stainless steel screw-down case back. The case back is stamped with a five-pointed star followed by 10K GOLD FILLED BEZEL and STAINLESS BACK. The watch is fitted with a gold-tone expansion band featuring rectangular links. The interior of the links is stamped Speidel, and one end link is stamped STAINLESS STEEL. The top of the other end link is stamped CHINA. This watch is in running condition. Case diameter: 33mm Lug width: 18mm. The watch shows significant wear consistent with age and use. The dial exhibits heavy oxidation, spotting, and discoloration, particularly in the lower half (photo 2). The acrylic crystal is heavily scratched across the surface and shows visible crazing and cracking along the perimeter between the 10 and 2 o'clock positions (photo 2). The 10 karat gold-filled case shows moderate scratching and brassing, with the base metal visible on the lugs and sharp edges (photo 3). There is an accumulation of grime and organic debris between the lugs and around the edge of the case back (photo 6). The Speidel expansion band shows significant plating loss, tarnishing, and accumulated debris between the spring-loaded links (photo 4 and 5).
