Benrus Series 2155 21 Jewel Gold Electroplated Wristwatch - A vintage Benrus mechanical wristwatch featuring a 20 micron gold electroplated bezel and a stainless steel case back. The aged champagne dial is set with gold-tone applied Arabic numerals at the even hours and arrowhead indices at the odd hours. The dial is printed with the maker name BENRUS below the 12 o'clock position, followed by 21 JEWELS. Above the 6 o'clock position, the dial reads SHOCK-ABSORBER, with the word SWISS printed at the very bottom edge. The case back is struck with circular text reading SHOCK ABSORBING - WATERPROOF - DUSTPROOF and SERIES #2155 - OPEN WITH BLADE. A central trapezoidal cartouche contains the name BENRUS, below which is struck .20 MICRON GOLD ELECTROPLATE BEZEL and ST. STEEL BACK. The watch is fitted with an aftermarket stainless steel expansion bracelet. The interior of the bracelet end links are stamped 100% STAINLESS STEEL and MADE IN THAILAND. This timepiece does not run. The watch case measures approximately 31mm in diameter excluding the crown. The watch is in heavily worn, as-found condition. The crystal is severely damaged with deep scratches and multiple significant cracks spanning the center (photo 2). The dial exhibits heavy ”tropical” spotting and patina across the entire surface, with visible green verdigris oxidation present near the center post and several indices (photo 2). The gold electroplating on the case shows substantial wear-through to the base metal, particularly on the lugs and sharp edges of the bezel (photo 1, photo 6). Significant dirt and debris accumulation is visible in the crevices of the case back and lugs (photo 6). The aftermarket expansion band shows heavy surface grime and scratching throughout (photo 4). The movement is non-functional and the watch does not run.
