Illinois Ladies Manual Wind Wristwatch 17 Jewels Base Metal Bezel and Stainless Steel Case - A vintage marquise-shaped ladies wristwatch featuring a manual wind mechanical movement. The off-white dial is marked with an applied gold-tone numeral at the 12 o'clock position and a numeral at the 6 o'clock position, with circular and triangular indices for the remaining hours. The dial is printed in black with the brand name ILLINOIS and 17 JEWELS above the 6 position. The watch is fitted with faceted crystal. The case consists of a gold-tone base metal bezel and a stainless steel case back. The exterior of the case back features a square logo with a stylized monogram and is stamped BASE METAL BEZEL over STAINLESS ST. BACK. Internally, the movement is engraved with the text STANDARD TIME, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, and a three-letter import code LYL. The number 475 is also visible on the movement plate. The watch is attached to a heavily distressed leather cord strap with a silver-tone metal buckle. This watch does not run. The watch measures approximately 0.75 inches wide including the crown and 1 inch from lug to lug. The total length including the strap is approximately 6.5 inches. The watch is in non-running condition. The gold-tone plating on the bezel shows significant wear and loss, particularly on the edges and corners, revealing the base metal beneath (photo 1, 2, and 8). The faceted crystal is heavily scratched and exhibits chipping along the perimeter edges (photo 2). The dial shows overall aging, spotting, and patina (photo 12). The hands and crown stem show visible oxidation and corrosion (photo 11, 12). The internal movement exhibits surface grime and spots of oxidation (photo 11). The leather strap is in poor, deteriorated condition, characterized by severe cracking, stiffening, and loss of the surface finish throughout (photo 4, 5).
