Size 0s Gold Filled Open Face Pocket Watch - An Elgin National Watch Co. open face pocket watch featuring a white porcelain enamel dial with black Arabic numerals and a sub-seconds dial at the six o'clock position. The blued steel hands include spade-style hour and minute hands. The manual wind movement is marked ELGIN NATL WATCH CO. U.S.A. and bears the serial number 22511911, which dates its production to approximately 1920. This nickel-finished 7-jewel movement is a Grade 301, Model 2. The gold-filled case is elaborately engraved with a floral and leaf pattern surrounding an unmonogrammed central shield. The case edge features a coin-edge texture and a circular bow. Case size: approximately 35mm diameter. The dial shows significant losses to the enamel numerals, particularly between the eight and eleven o'clock positions, along with some surface grime and fine hairline fractures. The blued steel hands exhibit some surface oxidation. The gold-filled case displays moderate surface wear and scratches consistent with age and use, with minor thinning of the gold layer on the high points of the engraving. The crystal shows light surface scratches. The movement was not tested for timekeeping accuracy.
