Bidspirit auction | A Group of Three Waltham

A Group of Three Waltham Pocket Watch Movements and Crystals - A collection of three antique open-face pocket watch movements and three loose glass crystals. The movements feature white enamel dials and various configurations consistent with late 19th to early 20th-century American horology. The first movement is a 15-jewel model with a white enamel dial featuring Roman numeral hour markers and red outer five-minute tracks. The movement plate is decorated with a damaskeened finish and bears a script signature reading American Waltham Watch Co. and the text 15 JEWELS and SAFETY BARREL. It is marked with the serial number 8431396 on the bridge. The second movement features a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position, signed A.W. Co. WALTHAM. The nickel movement plate is decorated with a geometric damaskeened pattern and is marked with the serial number 4786162 and the text SAFETY PINION. The third movement has a white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and red outer five-minute tracks, signed WALTHAM. The movement is marked A.W.W. CO. WALTHAM, MASS. and 15 JEWELS, with the serial number 20119856 visible on the plate. The three loose circular crystals are made of clear glass. The movements measure between approximately 1.5 inches and 1.75 inches in diameter at their widest points. The enamel dials on the two Roman numeral movements show significant cracking and hairlines (photo 3 and photo 5). One movement is missing its hour and minute hands (photo 5). The blued steel hands on the Arabic numeral movement show some surface oxidation (photo 8). All three movements exhibit varying degrees of surface tarnishing and oxidation to the metal plates and gears (photos 4, 6, and 7). The glass crystals show light surface scratches and minor abrasions consistent with loose storage (photo 1). The functional status of the movements is unknown; they are offered for parts or restoration.
