Vintage Bulova Selfwinding 10K Rolled Gold Plate Wristwatch - A Swiss-made Bulova automatic wristwatch featuring a 10K rolled gold plate bezel and a stainless steel case back. The champagne dial displays the name BULOVA at the 12 o'clock position and is marked SELFWINDING above the 6 o'clock position. The dial features raised Arabic numerals at the even hours and dagger-style hour markers at the odd hours, all in a gold tone to match the dauphine hands and central sweep seconds hand. The screw-down case back is engraved with the maker name BULOVA at the top and includes the technical specifications 10K R.G.P. BEZEL, STAINLESS STEEL BACK, SHOCK RESISTANT, ANTI-MAGNETIC, SELF WINDING, and WATER PROOF. The bottom of the case back bears the serial number G464617 and the date code M3, indicating a 1963 production year. The interior of the case back shows hand-scratched watchmaker service marks including 11-85. The 17-jewel automatic movement, visible when the case is opened, is marked BULOVA WATCH Co, 17 JEWELS SEVENTEEN, SWISS, and UNADJUSTED. The movement bridge is stamped with the caliber 11 AFAC in a rectangular box and the date code M3. This watch is head only and does not run. Case diameter: approximately 30mm. The watch is in fair vintage condition with significant cosmetic wear. The dial exhibits heavy oxidation and a distinct spider-web crazing pattern across the entire surface (photo 1 and 2). The acrylic crystal shows numerous scratches and scuffs (photo 2). The 10K rolled gold plate case shows heavy brassing and wear to the plating, particularly on the lugs and bezel edges (photo 4). The stainless steel case back has numerous surface scratches from general use (photo 3). The movement shows visible grime and light oxidation around the edges of the plates (photo 5). As noted, the movement is non-functional.
