Waltham 17 Jewels Selfwinding Stainless Steel Wristwatch - A vintage Waltham wristwatch featuring a tonneau-shaped stainless steel case with integrated lugs. The silvery-white dial is designed with a crosshair motif and features applied faceted block hour markers, with stylized Arabic numerals at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. The hands are dauphine style, accompanied by a center sweep second hand tipped with a red arrow. The dial is printed with a crown logo and the name Waltham in script, followed by 17 JEWELS. At the 6 o'clock position, the text reads SELFWINDING over SHOCKRESISTANT. The screw-down stainless steel case back bears a circular inscription reading ANTIMAGNETIC SHOCKRESISTANT WATERPROOF around a central rectangular banner containing the script name Waltham, with STAINLESS STEEL CASE printed below. The watch is fitted with a stainless steel Speidel expansion bracelet, with the interior links stamped Speidel and the end links stamped STAINLESS STEEL U.S.A. This watch runs. The case measures approximately 35mm wide excluding the crown and approximately 40mm from lug to lug. The watch exhibits heavy wear consistent with age and use. The crystal is severely damaged with heavy scratching and multiple significant cracks, most notably a large vertical crack spanning from the 12 to 6 positions (photo 1, 2). The stainless steel case displays moderate surface scratching, small nicks, and accumulated grime around the bezel and case back seams (photo 7). The expansion bracelet shows heavy surface scratching and a significant accumulation of biological debris between the internal links (photo 3, 5). While the movement is noted to run, the heavy external debris and cracked crystal suggest a full mechanical service and restoration are required.
