E. Howard Watch Co. 19 Jewel Gold Filled Open Face Pocket Watch - This American open-face pocket watch features a white porcelain enamel dial with Arabic numerals and a sub-seconds dial. The movement is a high-grade manual wind mechanism signed E. HOWARD WATCH CO. BOSTON and is marked as having 19 jewels, adjusted to five positions and temperature. The movement bears the serial number 1108977. The gold-filled case is marked E. HOWARD WATCH CO. BOSTON on the inner dust cover and C.W.C. CO. with a star and crescent moon trademark and the serial number 2164612 on the interior of the case back. The watch is accompanied by an attached braided leather fob featuring silver-tone metal slides and a buckle strap. According to provided documentation, the watch runs. Diameter: approximately 1.75 inches (measured across the case). The porcelain dial exhibits extensive cracking and ”spidering” across the surface, with notable chips to the enamel near the sub-seconds dial and along the outer edge between the 4 and 5 o'clock positions (photos 2 and 4). The gold-filled case shows significant brassing and wear-through to the base metal on the bezel and edges (photo 1). The case back displays heavy surface scratching and scuffing consistent with age and use (photo 8). Oxidation is visible on the metal hands (photo 2). The leather fob is aged, dry, and shows surface cracking throughout its length (photo 1). While the movement appears complete (photo 7), its mechanical accuracy and long-term timing have not been tested beyond the confirmation that it runs.
