Bulova Accutron Stainless Steel Tuning Fork Wristwatch 1970 - A 1970 Bulova Accutron stainless steel electronic wristwatch featuring a cushion-shaped case. The dark blue dial is set with applied silver-tone baton hour markers, a double baton at the 12 o'clock position, and the Bulova tuning fork logo. The dial is printed with the word ACCUTRON in silver-tone uppercase characters. The watch features a signed crown at the 3 o'clock position embossed with the tuning fork emblem. The exterior case back is stamped B U L O V A and STAINLESS STEEL, followed by the serial number 806488 and the date code N0. The interior of the case back features perlage finishing and is stamped with instructions reading USE ONLY CELL MARKED ACCUTRON 218 and INSTALL WITH STEPPED SIDE UP. Further markings inside the case back include BREV. [+] DEM., the initials FP, the reference number 769-1 in a rectangular box, and the word SWISS. The gold-toned caliber 2183 electronic movement is visible with the case back removed, displaying two copper coils and a tuning fork mechanism. The movement is engraved U.S. PAT. 2,971,323, B U L O V A, U.S.A., and 2 1 8 3. The watch is fitted with a vintage stainless steel expansion bracelet, with the internal links stamped Speidel U.S.A. This timepiece needs a battery for operation. Width: 30mm (excluding crown) Length: 39mm (lug-to-lug). The watch is in well-used condition. The acrylic crystal is heavily scratched and scuffed across the entire surface (photo 2). The stainless steel case and expansion bracelet exhibit significant surface scratching and honest wear consistent with age (photo 1). Light spotting and patina are visible around the edges of the blue dial (photo 11). The movement appears clean with no visible signs of historical battery leakage (photo 8). The watch is currently missing its battery and functionality is untested; professional servicing is recommended.
